What age & qualifications do I need to start?
- 16+ years.
- 2 National 5 (English preferred).
How long will this qualification take?
- 12- 15 months recommended (Core Skills included).
- Once qualified as a childcare practitioner, you are qualified to work with children from the age of birth to 21 years old.
What career pathways can I choose once qualified?
- Social work.
- Teaching.
- Nursing.
SVQ Playwork
What age & qualifications do I need to start?
- 16+ years.

National 5 in English or equivalent.
How long will this qualification take?
- 12 -15 months
What career pathways can I choose once qualified?
- Once a qualified playworker, you are qualified to work in an Out of School Care setting.
SVQ Social Services Children and Young People
What age & qualifications do I need to start?
Level 7
- 16+ years.
- 2 National 5 (English preferred).
Level 9 (Management)
- No age limit
- Must be in a supervisory position
How long will this qualification take?
Level 7
- 12- 15 months recommended (Core Skills included).
Level 9 (Management)
- 12 – 15 months.
What career pathways can I choose once qualified?
Level 7
- Once qualified as a childcare practitioner, you are qualified to work with children from the age of birth to 21 years old.
Level 9 (Management)
- Once qualified future pathways include ELC Management role and progress onto the degree BA in Childhood practice.
