What do I need to start?

To start the SVQ in Sports Coaching at SCQF Level 6, there are no specific prior qualifications required. However, it is beneficial to have some experience or knowledge in sports coaching and that you are at least 16 years old. The key requirements are:

Employment or Placement: SVQ’s are work based vocational qualifications, you need to be in a job or placement where you can perform relevant coaching tasks and responsibilities to gather the required evidence.

Interest in Coaching: A genuine interest in sports coaching and a commitment to developing your skills and knowledge in this area.

SVQ’s are competency based, so prior academic qualifications are not always required, however a minimum of National 4/5 English is preferable.

Funding is available through the modern Apprenticeship programme however this course can be self-funded.
